Honest comparison

Anonymeter vs Typeform

Typeform is the gold standard for beautiful, conversational marketing surveys. Anonymeter is built around structural anonymity and costs ~10× less. Here's an honest comparison.

The short version

Choose Typeform if design polish, AI-generated forms, and 300+ integrations matter more than cost or anonymity guarantees. Choose Anonymeter if you need feedback that respondents trust is actually anonymous, or if Typeform's 10-response free tier and $25/mo entry price aren't a fit.

Why people switch from Typeform to Anonymeter

Three reasons come up most often in our user interviews:

1. The free plan. Typeform cut their free tier from 100 responses/month to 10 responses/month in 2024. For most teams that's effectively unusable — you hit the limit on day one of any real survey. The next step up is $25/month for 100 responses. Anonymeter's free plan: 3 forms with unlimited responses, forever, no credit card. For collecting feedback at any real volume, this difference is decisive.

2. The anonymity isn't actually anonymous. Typeform logs respondent IP addresses by default. The setting can be changed, but it's a configuration you have to remember to flip — and even then, the platform retains identification at the infrastructure level. For sensitive use cases (HR feedback, exit interviews, whistleblower reports, customer churn surveys), this is a deal-breaker. Anonymeter has no IP logging at the code level — there is no setting to forget, because the data is never collected.

3. Anonymous follow-up. Anonymeter is the only survey tool that lets a form owner ask a follow-up question to a specific anonymous respondent — and get a reply — without either party ever knowing the other's identity. Typeform has no equivalent. For research workflows where "I want to ask one more question" meets "I can't break anonymity," this is uniquely Anonymeter's.

When Typeform makes more sense

Typeform genuinely wins on several dimensions, and pretending otherwise wouldn't help you decide:

  • Design polish matters more than cost. If you're collecting leads via a top-of-funnel marketing survey on a B2B SaaS site, Typeform's conversational UX and animations measurably increase completion rates by 14–23%. The premium feel justifies the price for marketing teams with a budget.
  • You want AI-generated forms. Typeform's Formless and Creator AI generate forms from a prompt and propose contextual follow-ups. Anonymeter has no AI form generation (yet).
  • You need 300+ integrations. Typeform connects natively to HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Notion, Calendly, Stripe, Intercom, and hundreds of others. Anonymeter has webhook + Zapier support but no native deep integrations.
  • Conversational one-question-at-a-time UX is non-negotiable. Typeform's signature interaction model genuinely lifts completion rates for long surveys. Anonymeter renders standard forms (faster, but more traditional).
  • Brand recognition matters to your audience. Typeform has 150k+ businesses using it. If your respondents recognize the brand, that's a small trust signal.

If those things matter more than cost or anonymity, Typeform is the right pick. We won't try to talk you out of it.

Pricing comparison (2026)

Typeform (annual billing):

  • Free: 10 responses/month, 10 questions/form, Typeform branding
  • Basic: $25/mo — 100 responses/month, 1 user, no branding
  • Plus: $50/mo — 1,000 responses/month, 3 users
  • Business: $83/mo — 10,000 responses/month, drop-off analytics, CAPTCHA
  • Talent (HR): $149/mo — 3,000 responses, video Q&A
  • Growth (GTM): $349/mo — video Q&A, B2B data enrichment

Anonymeter:

  • Free: 3 forms with unlimited responses, forever, no card required
  • Pro: $9/mo — unlimited forms, CSV export, custom branding, Anonymous Follow-Up
  • Team: $29/mo — 10 seats, manager dashboard, API access

For most use cases (employee feedback, customer NPS, post-event surveys), Anonymeter's free tier handles the volume without ever needing to upgrade. Typeform's free is a trial; Anonymeter's free is a product.

Feature-by-feature breakdown

Anonymity: Anonymeter — zero IPs logged, zero cookies on public form, no respondent identity column in the database. Typeform — IPs logged by default; "anonymous mode" available but requires manual config + still retains some identification at the platform layer.

Free plan: Anonymeter — 3 forms, unlimited responses, no credit card. Typeform — 1 form, 10 responses/month, Typeform branding on form.

Form builder: Both support text, rating, multiple choice, conditional logic. Typeform has more question types (video, audio, payment, file upload). Anonymeter focuses on the core 3 plus advanced settings (form password, expiry, retention).

Templates: Anonymeter — 30 anonymous-by-default templates organized into 5 categories (HR, Customer, Events, Education, Specialized). Typeform — 3,000+ generic templates with anonymity opt-in per template.

Analytics: Both include rating-question histograms, choice-distribution bars, response counts. Typeform adds drop-off tracking ($83/mo Business tier). Anonymeter shows view-to-response conversion rate on every form.

Speed: Anonymeter's public form page is ~40 KB and renders in plain HTML — first paint ~50ms even on slow connections. Typeform's form page is ~500 KB SPA — first paint typically 2-3s.

Integrations: Typeform wins by volume (300+ native). Anonymeter has webhooks + Zapier coverage which routes to most of the same destinations indirectly.

Frequently asked

Is Anonymeter just a cheaper Typeform?
No — different products with overlapping use cases. Typeform is a beautifully-designed conversational form builder marketed to marketing/CRM teams. Anonymeter is an anonymous-feedback specialist that uses simpler, faster forms to prioritize trust and anonymity over design polish. Some people need Typeform's polish; others need Anonymeter's anonymity. They serve different jobs.
Can Typeform forms really not be anonymous?
Typeform forms can be configured to hide some identifying fields, and there's an 'anonymous mode' toggle. But IP addresses are logged by default at the infrastructure level. For sensitive feedback (HR, whistleblower, exit interviews), respondents who research the platform will see this and lower their honesty. Anonymeter's anonymity is structural — no IPs are ever collected, period — so it's not a setting you can forget to flip.
What about Typeform's design? Doesn't that matter?
It matters a lot — for marketing surveys where design lifts completion rates by double digits. For internal/sensitive feedback (HR pulse, exit interviews, anonymous suggestion box), design is rarely the limiting factor — honesty is. People will fill a plain form honestly more often than they'll fill a beautiful form with their name attached.
Can I migrate from Typeform to Anonymeter?
Yes — there's no automated migration, but it's usually 10-15 minutes per form. Copy your questions, paste them into Anonymeter's builder, share the new link. Past responses stay in Typeform; new ones come to Anonymeter.
What about Typeform's AI features?
Typeform's Formless and Creator AI are real differentiators — they generate forms from prompts and propose contextual follow-ups. Anonymeter doesn't have AI form generation yet (planned). If AI-built forms are core to your workflow, Typeform is the better fit today.
Is the cost difference really 10×?
On entry tiers, yes — Anonymeter Pro $9/mo vs Typeform Basic $25/mo. At the free tier the gap is even bigger (unlimited responses vs 10/month). For teams running multiple ongoing surveys, the annual cost difference is typically several hundred dollars.
